Appcitas vs Booksy
A Booksy alternative where clients book with no account and no marketplace
If you already have clients and just want booking to be easy, Appcitas gives you a booking link that asks for a name and a phone number, an AI that books through your link (on Pro, also from your WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger chats), and deposits that land in your own Zelle, Cash App or Venmo. Try it for 7 days free.

Why do owners look for a Booksy alternative?
- Your client just wants a fade on Saturday, and to finish booking they have to verify their contact details in Booksy’s flow.
- You pay a monthly subscription and still chase deposits by Zelle on the side, because the platform’s deposit runs through card payments and processing fees.
- You turn on marketplace promotion to fill the book and get charged a commission on every new client who arrives that way.
- Clients DM you at 11 pm and nobody answers until morning.
Book without creating an account or installing an app
With Appcitas your client taps your link, picks a service, day and time, leaves a name and a phone number, and the booking is confirmed. No account, no app. Returning clients get their details prefilled on their own device, and if they have a question the AI is one tap away and hands them back to the form.
Booksy’s own site says clients need to enter and verify their contact details to complete a booking, to stop fake bookings and cut no-shows. That is a reasonable call. It is also one more step where a client can drop off.
Not a marketplace: it books the clients who already message you
Booksy runs a consumer marketplace, and that is its real strength: people who have never heard of you can find you and book. If you need that, it is a genuine advantage. Its Boost promotion charges a commission on the first visit of each new client it brings.
Appcitas does not bring you new clients. It answers and books the people already messaging you on WhatsApp, Instagram or your link (the AI in those chats is on Pro), and there is no new-client commission. If your book fills through referrals and social media, that is the tool.
Deposits to your own account, no processor in the middle
On Booksy, deposits and late-cancel fees run through Booksy’s card payments, and standard processing fees apply. With Appcitas (Starter and up, you switch it on) the client pays the deposit straight to your own account: Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, a payment link, whatever you set up. Appcitas never touches the money and takes no commission on it.
The slot is held for a couple of hours with a reference code for the payment note, the client sends the receipt, and you tap Received or Did not arrive. The AI only gives an indicative signal, it does not verify payment. Checking it and any refunds are on you.
AI that books in writing, in English or Spanish
Booksy’s AI Receptionist is a beta that answers phone calls. We did not find automated booking over WhatsApp on its public pages. Appcitas books by chat: on any plan through your link, and on Pro inside your WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger, all into one calendar. It picks up the language of the first message and answers in English or Spanish, which matters when your clients are a mix.
On Pro you can keep the WhatsApp Business app on the same number. When you reply from your phone the AI stays quiet in that conversation for 12 hours, so it never talks over you.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good Booksy alternative for independent pros?
It depends on where your clients come from. If they already message you on WhatsApp or Instagram and you want them to book with no account or app, Appcitas. If you need strangers to discover you in a marketplace, Booksy has that and Appcitas does not.
Is Appcitas a marketplace like Booksy?
No. Appcitas does not send you new clients and is not a directory. It books the clients you already have, through your link on any plan and, on Pro, in WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.
Can I take deposits without card processing?
Yes, from Starter. The client pays your own Zelle, Cash App, Venmo or payment link and Appcitas never touches the money or takes a cut. You confirm that it arrived, and checking payments and refunds are your responsibility.
Where is Booksy better?
The marketplace: it can bring you clients who do not know you yet, and Appcitas cannot. It is also an established platform with SMS reminders.
How hard is it to switch from Booksy?
Not hard. You paste your price list or take a photo of it and the services are created in seconds. Your clients book through your new link, or on Pro keep messaging you and the AI books them.
Do my customers need to download an app?
No. Appcitas runs in the cloud and your customers book on the WhatsApp they already use or through your link. Nothing to download on either side.
